Dr. Stanley Sedore
Cardinal Class of 1999We celebrate Dr. Stanley C. Sedore, MD, PhD, a proud Comet who has gone on to make an incredible mark in the medical field.
Dr. Sedore earned both his medical degree and doctorate in biochemistry at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine before completing his pediatrics residency and a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Yale University. Today, he is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist, specializing in arrhythmias, inherited heart conditions, cardiac genetics, and exercise physiology.
From his small-town Iowa beginnings to caring for children and families at the highest level of medicine, Dr. Sedore’s journey is a shining reminder that big dreams can grow from humble roots. We’re proud to honor him in the Cardinal Hall of Fame.
Paul Sorenson
Cardinal Class of 1962We recognize Paul Sorenson, Cardinal Class of 1962.
Paul’s Cardinal teachers sparked his love of math and science, leading him to earn an electrical engineering degree from Iowa State and later a master’s in biomedical engineering. His career took him to Honeywell and then to Medtronic, where he helped develop life-changing technologies, including cystic fibrosis testing for infants, brain stimulation treatments for seizures, and innovative drug-delivery patches that earned him several patents.
Paul went on to serve as Director of ALZA’s Minnesota Operations before retiring in 2000. He and his wife, Marlene, married 57 years, still live in Minnesota, where he enjoys woodworking, gardening, and family time with their two children and three grandchildren.
From Eldon to engineering breakthroughs, Paul’s story is Cardinal pride at its finest!
