About Required Core Classes

Each core class is one year long. For example, Biology is a class that takes two semesters to complete. Biology is worth two credits.

About Elective Classes

Each elective class is one semester long. For example, Graphic Design is a class that takes one semester to complete. Graphic Design is worth one credit.

Raising the Bar with College

Advanced students are allowed to take one college course in addition to their regular coursework. Students must maintain a C (2.5 GPA or higher) to qualify. In 11th and 12th grades, students are allowed to take more courses for double credit. Double credit is earning high school credit plus college credit at the same time. What is Required to be a Senior Scholar?

Four Extra Credits

A Senior Scholar completes 2 additional credits in Math and 2 additional credits in Science beyond the graduation requirement.

Grade Point Average: Core GPA ≥ 3.0

To be a Senior Scholar, you need a GPA of 3.0 or greater for your core classes. This is not your overall cumulative GPA. This is your GPA of core classes only.

ACT Score: ACT ≥ 21

To be a Senior Scholar, you need an ACT score of 21 or greater.

(GPA x 60) + (ACT x 40) ≥ 1000

For ex: (3.5 GPA x 60) + (25 ACT x 40)

What do I Earn? Honors and Scholarship Funds

Besides special honor at graduation time, your picture will be placed on the Commons Wall with the Senior Scholars who have gone before you. Senior Scholars also earn the Dollars for Scholars scholarship, which is worth $250.
