New Cardinal CSD teacher Samuel Pedersen at a formal event with his fiancé.

posted July 21, 2023

We are excited for Samuel Pedersen to return to Cardinal this year to teach 7th, 8th and 9th grade English. We hope you’ll stop and say hello if you see him on campus! Get to know him ahead of the new school year by reading his answers to a few questions below.

Why did you want to teach at Cardinal?
I grew up at and around Cardinal and was formerly employed at the school. The workplace culture is second to none. I know that I have a home here.

What do you like about teaching students at this grade level?
I love seeing freshman students grow up and mature over the course of a school year.

What is your favorite part of teaching?
My favorite part(s) about being a teacher is building relationships with students and coworkers. A close second would be reading great literature with my students.

What is your ultimate goal as a teacher?
My ultimate goal as a teacher is to leave my students better off at the end of the year than where they were in the beginning. This may not just be in academics. I want to educate in the classroom, develop athletes outside of the classroom and impact each student's day/life in a positive manner.

What do you hope students take away from your class this year?
I hope that each student builds usable/practical skills that improve reading and writing capabilities in everyday life. I would love it if all of my students developed a love, or at least an appreciation, for reading over their time with me.

Fun Facts/Hobbies:
I will be getting married on December 16 of this year.
